NOTE: If you are a compound archer, it’s highly recommended that you do NOT use wood arrows. Compound bows impart more power to the arrow than its recurve or longbow counterparts, making wood arrows a potential danger in compound bows, especially if it’s a high poundage bow and a lower spine arrow. This may be common knowledge in the archery community, but I feel it would be irresponsible and unethical of me to not make this statement.NOTE: I am still learning what works and what doesn’t for making arrows. I had an issue with the cresting paint on a few of the arrows and then decided to change paints, one that I think works better. There may be a few other small inconsistencies as it was all done by hand, such as the cut on the feathers may not be 100% perfect.
NOTE: This is my very first listing and as such I’m still figuring out how everything works. I’m sorry in advance if anything goes awry.
Features:
-Port Orford Cedar (POC) shafts
-29” Length (BOP)
-11/32” Diameter
-55-60 Spine
-Left Wing, Left Helical Twist Turkey Feathers (Fantasy Cut)
-4 Coats of True North Arrow Finish
-125 Grain Medieval Field Points
I started with raw Port Orford Cedar shafts that were straightened, stained, and then cut and tapered to 29” (back of point to valley of nock). Each shaft was checked for straightness several times throughout the process. I still can’t guarantee that they are completely straight, given the nature of some wood shafts. They are 11/32” in diameter, 55-60 pounds in spine, and are fletched with real left wing turkey feathers, featuring a left helical twist. Each shaft was also coated 4 times with an arrow finish to protect them and to keep moisture out. The feathers are attached with fletching tape and reinforced with Duco Cement on the ends. I was skeptic of tape myself but after one of my own personal arrows went askew from a bad release, glancing off the target, burying itself pretty deep in grass and dirt and then being trampled over because it couldn't be found, the feathers didn't budge. This works. They currently have medieval styled, 125 grain field points on, but they can be changed for different points. If you would like different points installed, it depends on how many you want changed and the points you would them to be changed to. If you would like completely custom wood arrows, send me a message and let’s see what we can do.
